……というわけで、日本との時差8時間（サマータイム）のUKでも「その日」になりました。現地時間のお昼ごろから、あれこれ始まると思います。

英国全体でエイプリル・フールの日のジョーク (prank) の件数は1,000万件だとか（そんな統計、あるのだろうか。歩くものはすべて冗談のネタにするようなあの地で、たった1,000万件とは考えづらいが）、最もありふれているのは、相手に「靴紐がほどけているよ」と（うそを）言うことだとか、一番いいのは、友人の車に「この車売ります」という張り紙をしておくことだとか（しかもすごく安い値段を書いて、電話番号も書き添えておく・・・小学生か！）、いろいろと基本情報がQ&A形式で書かれています。

で、「エイプリル・フール」の定義は：

The desserts called 'fools' have nothing to do with April Fool's Day. The name's from the French "fouler", meaning 'to crush' and concerns crushed fruit.

日本では「プティ・フール」というカタカナ語になっているフラ語の「フール」だと思うんだけど、それは英語のfoolとは関係ありません、というお話。

映画『靖国』の上映中止の理由が、「映画館が、周辺の商業施設に迷惑になるかもしれないから、と判断した」ということであるのが、自分的にはものすごい「ジョーク」だったんですが（サウジアラビアとかイランとかのことを笑えない）、「映画は上映中止みたいですね。花見は盛り上がってます。（某国会議員さん）」ってのは相当いいッスね。（笑）
