アイルランド、「これまでの100年」から、「これからの100年」へ。

というわけで28日のイースター・マンデーも、アイルランドからは「イースター蜂起100周年」の話題がたっぷり流れてきていた。100年前に実際に蜂起が決行されたのはイースター・マンデーのことで、ダブリンでは "Reflecting The Rising" と銘打ったRTE（公共放送）主催のイベントが市内各所で行なわれていて、#ReflectingTheRisingのハッシュタグでその様子が報告されていた。

RTÉ 1916: Reflecting the Rising is a large-scale multi-location public event that will take place in Dublin on Easter Monday 2016 from 11am to 6pm, with hundreds of talks, walking tours, music, dance, street art, street theatre, and moments of reflection and celebration.

RTÉ 1916: Reflecting the Rising aims to provide Irish people of all ages with a one day canvas on which to explore the Rising and our relationship with it, both historically and contemporaneously. In locations on both sides of the River Liffey and on the river itself, the event is a public invitation to commemorate, to celebrate and to understand this significant moment in our collective history.
Hundreds of free events with a historical element are planned over eight city centre public zones which will be open to all.


……という感じで、講演・ディスカッションあり、音楽あり、演劇あり、ゆかりの場所をめぐるウォーキング・ツアーあり、展示ありと盛りだくさんで、ディスカッションなど屋内のイベントは入場は無料だが整理券が必要という形で、ずいぶん前に整理券がはけてしまっているものがたくさんあったようだ。



蜂起が行なわれた現場では俳優さんたちが蜂起を再現するイベントもあった。













今回の「100周年」のイベントは、「すべての人を含むアイルランド」というメッセージを強く打ち出していた。また、武力による独立の獲得という思想から、実に遠くまで来たアイルランドが、日ごろの対立を忘れさせる「1916年の共和国樹立宣言」を社会全体で改めて共有し、それを「次の100年へのヴィジョン」として確認するイベントでもあった。大統領のメッセージ:




いやあ、イースター蜂起100周年のときに、この人が大統領でほんとよかった。(*^^*)

このイースターに入ってから、「1916年の共和国樹立宣言」が一体何度読み上げられたことだろう。

「1916年の宣言」は憲法じゃないんですけどね、という念押しもなされていたが、憲法はねえ、divisiveじゃないですか、アイルランドでは。FFとFGの大連立がありえないことの一因はそこですよね……という存在でもあり、それよりも「国民の統合の象徴」としては「1916年の宣言」なのだろう。そこから、すべてが始まった一文。高い理想を堂々と誇り高く掲げた一文。

We declare the right of the people of Ireland to the ownership of Ireland and to the unfettered control of Irish destinies, to be sovereign and indefeasible. The long usurpation of that right by a foreign people and government has not extinguished the right, nor can it ever be extinguished except by the destruction of the Irish people. In every generation the Irish people have asserted their right to national freedom and sovereignty; six times during the past three hundred years they have asserted it in arms. Standing on that fundamental right and again asserting it in arms in the face of the world, we hereby proclaim the Irish Republic as a Sovereign Independent State, and we pledge our lives and the lives of our comrades in arms to the cause of its freedom, of its welfare, and of its exaltation among the nations.

The Irish Republic is entitled to, and hereby claims, the allegiance of every Irishman and Irishwoman. The Republic guarantees religious and civil liberty, equal rights and equal opportunities to all its citizens, and declares its resolve to pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation and of all its parts, cherishing all of the children of the nation equally, and oblivious of the differences carefully fostered by an alien Government, which have divided a minority from the majority in the past.

Until our arms have brought the opportune moment for the establishment of a permanent National Government, representative of the whole people of Ireland and elected by the suffrages of all her men and women, the Provisional Government, hereby constituted, will administer the civil and military affairs of the Republic in trust for the people.

We place the cause of the Irish Republic under the protection of the Most High God, Whose blessing we invoke upon our arms, and we pray that no one who serves that cause will dishonour it by cowardice, inhumanity, or rapine. In this supreme hour the Irish nation must, by its valour and discipline, and by the readiness of its children to sacrifice themselves for the common good, prove itself worthy of the august destiny to which it is called.

2016年、イースター蜂起参加者は当然誰一人生存しておらず、蜂起参加者の子供も90歳、100歳という年齢を迎えている。直接に蜂起を知る人はいない。みなが共有しているのは、前の世代から受け継がれてきた《物語》だ（そしてそれを紡ぎ直してもいる）。「100周年」のイベントは、「次の100年の始まり」のイベントでもあり、そこでは「次の世代」のための場も用意されている。






「1916年に誰も死ななければよかったのに」というのは、子供の素直で素朴な思いだろう。（大人が言うと、これは最新流行の修正主義で、「イースター蜂起は鎮圧され失敗したので、やるだけ無駄だった。死んだ人たちは犬死だった」という内容の主張である。これ、北アイルランドのユニオニストから出てるのはまだわかると思うけど、アイルランド国内から出てるんだよね……）

このイベントでは、イースター蜂起に巻き込まれて死んだ子供たちのことも、クローズアップされている。イースター・サンデーのGPO前の記念式典の中継特番でも、「子供たちの犠牲」（銃を取って戦って死んだわけではない、まったくの巻き添え）のことが強調されていたが、きっと学校でも教えられていることだろう。





さて、100年前に蜂起（決起）が行なわれたアイルランド全土の諸都市でも、記念・追悼の式典が行なわれた。

下記は、19世紀の大飢饉のときに家族のための食料を盗んだ罪でオーストラリアに流される男を歌ったバラード（サッカーの代表のサポーターが歌っていることで有名）で知られるアゼリーでの式典。









また、28日の夜には「100周年」を記念する舞台芸術のイベントがRTEで中継され、非常に多くの人たちが見ていたようだ。アイルランドのTwitterではハッシュタグの #Centenary が、ずーっとトレンドしっぱなし。

全世界 (worldwide) でもこのハッシュタグはTrendsに入っていたようだ。




私はまだそこまで見ることができていない。追いつかない状態だ。RTEがクリップをYTにアップしている。




武力で（全32州のうち26州だけでひとつの国家となるという中途半端な）独立を（最終的には）勝ち取ったアイルランド共和国という国（と短くまとめて書いてるけど、書きながら違和感ありすぎて困る……アイルランドは複雑ですね）が、その独立に向けた武力闘争の始まりから100年をお祝いする「軍事パレード」で、国連の平和維持部隊に参加した人々がミッション参加国の国旗を掲げて国連の水色のベレー帽で行進し、消防車や救急車がパレードするという「何でもあり」でなおかつ「平和的 pacifist」なあり方を示した。

そのことの意味が、まだ自分の中で落ち着いていない。

アイルランドにとって「次の100年」はどうなるのか。

この言葉が、その始まりになるのか。

彼らは生き残った人々だった。ほとんどが病気で貧しく職もなく，社会から追放されていた。「原子病」の恐怖はとても大きかったので，人々は名前を変え，多くは住居を変えた。病人たちは混雑した国立病院で治療を受けた。米国人が作って経営する近代的な原爆病院が松の木に囲まれ市街地を見下ろす場所にあったが，そこではわずかな患者を「研究」目的で受け入れるだけだった。
