Yahoo offers Flickr revamp with 1TB of 'free storage'

同時に、ページのレイアウトが大幅に変更されました。今はやりの（たぶん3年もすれば「古臭く」見える）「ぎっちぎちに敷き詰めたタイル・レイアウト」です（Yahoo! が買収したTumblrのレイアウトですね）。
このレイアウト、元がinstagram写真のような加工しまくりのものだと若干「おされ」っぽく見えるし、目先の新しさはあるかもしれないのですが、ずっとFlickr使ってきたような、「"image" じゃなくて "picture", "photo" なのよ」系のユーザーには、概して不評なようです。私も苦手です。いや、積極的に嫌いです。目に入る情報量が多いんだか少ないんだかわからない。店でいうとドンキホーテです。1枚1枚の写真の独立性もないし、そういう「批評」的なことを言う前に、単に見づらい。
それに、infinite scrollなので、古い写真のページの切り替えがしづらい。動作がもっさりする。iPadとかスマフォにはよいのかもしれませんが、普通にパソコンで見るには非常に不便です。
このほか、個別ページの表示も全然変わりました。「黒バック」強制キタコレ、っていう……（「黒バック」に各種機能系のアイコンがレイアウトされているので、目にうるさい）。昔の、Yahoo! に買収される前の、ユーザーが勝手に便利ツール作ってた時代のview on blackとか、懐かしいな……。
で、個別写真ページの「黒バック」はどうしようもないようですが、トップページだけは変更できます。
URLの末尾に ?details=1 をつけるだけです。

リニューアル後のflickrについてのジョウゼフさんの意見:
Flickr should have given users an option to adopt the new interface if they wanted to. Simply switching it as they have done is a mistake.

Flickr now feels like any old photo sharing site, where individual photos are not valued, they're just one amongst many snapshots.

The removal of sets from the sidebar makes it much more difficult to navigate - I doubt many people would click on 'sets' in the top nav bar

Setが表示されてないの、不便っすよね……。

そう、これね、ほんとにいや。「写真を見せる」という当初の設計思想が好きで、ほかのサービス（fotologとか）ではなくflickr使ってるのに。
