北アイルランドの「和解」のかたち

ブラディ・サンデーから40年となる週末、「カトリック」のスポーツであるゲーリック・フットボールの試合が（毎週末のごとく）開催された。デリーでのアーマーでのデリー対ティローンの試合（リーグ戦ではなくカップ戦の決勝だったそうだ）には、「プロテスタント」のピーター・ロビンソン（DUP党首、北アイルランド自治政府ファーストミニスター）が、初めて観戦に訪れた。ブラディ・サンデー事件について虚偽説明を英国政府が虚偽であったと公式に認め、首相が謝罪してから1年半。デリーでシン・フェイン主催の「統一アイルランド」をめぐる会議にUUPの大物が参加してからすぐ後のことだ。

昨年の党大会でボビー・サンズを引用してみせたピーター・ロビンソンは、そのときと同じく、「彼らか我々か、という枠組で考える時代はもう終わった」と明言している。

1986年8月7日、そのピーター・ロビンソンは……。



だから「説得力」がある。

しかしこの「新しい政治」から取り残される人びとがいるということも事実で、そしてそれは、元々の社会階級に加え、「犯罪者」、「殺人者」などの「過去」ゆえに、ニュースにもならないことがほとんどで、その問題を真正面から語るべき立場の政治家たちは、PUPのようにマージナライズされるか、シン・フェインの上層部のようにほっかむりだ。

記事の数がすごい。私のカバーしている範囲の多くが「ユニオニスト側」であることを改めて確認せざるを得ない。（UTVにせよベルファスト・テレグラフにせよ、今は「どちらでもない」スタンスだが、元々はユニオニストの側である。）

Mr Robinson arrived at the Armagh County ground some 40 minutes before the throw-in.

He was brought into the VIP area at the front of the main stand, after the playing of the Irish national anthem, Amhrán na bhFiann.

これは微妙なところ。「英国の一部である北アイルランド」でアイルランドのアンセム（戦士の歌）を聞くわけにはいかないのだろう。（ダブリンを訪れたときはアンセムが演奏される場にいたが。）

"It's good to be here. I have had several meetings with the GAA, at a meeting-to-meeting level and when the invitation came I was glad to take it up," said Mr Robinson.

Tyrone regained the cup after coming from behind to beat Derry 1-14 to 2-8 on the night.

"I'm not sure if I have caught all the finer points of the game, but I'm on the side of the referee on this one," Mr Robinson joked.

相変わらず、笑いのセンスがいい（笑）。ゲーリック・フットボールはルールも把握していないし観戦していても正直よくわからなかったのでどっちが勝って嬉しいとか悔しいという感情はない、ということを表すときに、この表現。

Mr McGuinness said the First Minister's attendance was "another little bit of history".

"I think it's a brave step, but Peter knows the overwhelming majority of our people passionately want the peace process to proceed and are absolutely delighted when they see him and myself turning up at different events, maybe even events that they would never have expected either the two of us would support," he told UTV.

次はマーティン・マクギネスが12thに、ですか（ないない）。（「ないない」って言っておいて、数ヵ月後に椅子から落ちることになるのがよくあるパターンなのだけど。）

GAAのプレジデントの言葉：

"The attendance of the First Minister follows a series of engagements that have taken place involving him and his officials over the past number of years led by our Provincial Director Danny Murphy.

"Myself, Danny Murphy and Tom Daly (Chairman of the Casement Park Stadium Project) first met the First Minister last year and Ulster GAA would want to again recognise the significant investment that the Executive, under the leadership of both the First and deputy First Ministers, have committed to the Casement Park redevelopment and to many other GAA projects.

北アイルランド紛争で、事態を膠着させたのは「主義主張」だったけれど、それを動かしたのは必ずしも「主義主張」ではない。これもその一例だろう。この再開発計画の裏に何があるのかは知らんけど（書かれてもいないし）。

そういう点について、真正面から語ってほしい人は、北アイルランドからアイルランド共和国の政治家として転身してしまっているが。

写真で、ロビンソンの左右にいるのが誰なのかがわからない。BBCの写真（ズームで引っ張ってるやつ）は隣はマーティン・マクギネス、後ろもシン・フェインの閣僚という席順だが、この写真（と、UTVのトップページでの記事付属の写真）の左右にいるのは、GAAのプレジデントや関係者だろうと思う。

Last year the Queen made a landmark visit to the GAA’s headquarters in Dublin. The tour of the Croke Park stadium complex formed part of her groundbreaking state visit to the Irish Republic.

確かに、これがあったからロビンソンの訪問も可能になったのだろう。国家元首がGAAのスタジアムを訪れた。なら自治政府トップが訪れてもよいだろう、という判断。（むろん、女王のクローク・パーク訪問のもつ意味は、それだけではないのだが。）
