【速報】東ベルファストで爆発

つい数分前のBBC NI記事。今日の午前7時ごろ（現地時間）、東ベルファスト（大雑把にいえばプロテスタントの地域）の警官の自宅の近くで、爆発があった。車の下に何かが仕掛けられていたらしい。負傷者の有無など現段階の報道では不明。

... It is understood that the intended target may have been an off-duty member of the security forces but a woman without any security force connections had just got into the car to drive off when the device triggered.

An ambulance was called to the scene to take her to hospital.

Her condition is not yet known.

標的は非番の治安当局職員（注：BBCによると警官）だったのではないかと考えられるが、治安当局とは縁もゆかりもない女性がその車に乗り込んで発進させたときに、爆発物が起爆した。現場には救急車が急行し、女性を病院に搬送したが、容態についてはわかっていない。

A woman has been taken to hospital with minor injuries following an explosion near the home of a police officer in east Belfast.

The Ambulance Service were called to Kingsdale Park in the city on Friday at 0730 BST.

An Ambulance Service spokesperson said the woman suffered slight redness to her arm and ringing in her ears.

A policeman's girlfriend was injured today when a bomb exploded under her car as she left his Belfast home.

She was reversing a red MX5 sports car out of the drive of the semi-detached house at Kingsdale Park in east Belfast when there was an explosion under the front of the car.

つまり、爆発があった現場は警察の本部から800メートル足らずの閑静な住宅街（セミデタッチト・ハウスだから、そこそこ高級なエリア）。被害にあったのはある警察官のガールフレンド（書類を出して結婚していない相手、という感じ）で、車を出そうとしたら車の床の下で爆発した。

地区選出の議員、サー・レジー・エンピー（UUP）は「（無差別に攻撃しようとしたのではなく）警官を狙った事件だとすれば非常に深刻」ということを言っている。

ヘッドラインのところに過去のニュースもいくつも入っているけれど（RIRAが襲撃を認めたのは今年9月のデリーでの出来事、CIRAが警官を殺したのは今年3月のクレイガヴォンでの出来事）。

Chief Supt Brian Maguire indicated that a device had been planted on the passenger side of the car and had someone been sitting there it could have caused a fatality.
警察の話では、爆発物は助手席側に仕掛けられており、もし誰かが助手席に座っていたら死者がでていたかもしれない。

He said they were still investigating who the intended target was.
誰を標的とするつもりであったかについては現在も捜査中である。

ひねらずに考えれば、標的の警官の内偵をした犯人が、彼女が運転して彼が助手席に乗ることを把握していたということになるのではないかと思うが。

で、BBC記事に埋め込まれているMark Simpsonの分析にあるのだが、東ベルファストは非主流派だろうが主流派だろうが、リパブリカン、というかカトリックが多い地域ではなく、PIRAだろうがRIRAだろうがCIRAだろうがINLAだろうがONHだろうが、リパブリカンの組織が歩き回れるようなところではない。（ああ、これロイヤリストの武装解除のほうに変な影響を及ぼしかねないなあ。）

末尾にSouth BelfastのMP（SDLP所属）のコメントあり。シン・フェインのコメントが出てこないな……。

South Belfast MP Dr Alasdair McDonnell condemned those responsible for the explosion. "I would like to think that over the past 10 or 11 years we would have left this sort of madness behind us," he said. "Any attack of this nature, or any violence, cannot be justified, even by the warped standards the perpetrators adopt."

He expressed his sympathy with the victims.

BBCもガーディアンも、写真が運転席側からのもので、助手席側がどのくらい壊れているのかがわからない。運転席側も前部がぐちゃぐちゃになっているので……うはー。

写真、「爆発のあとで頭の負傷で病院に搬送される男性」というキャプション。風貌から、60代以上の男性。車に乗ってた女性以外に負傷者が出てるのか。他の記事には言及がない。

The Sinn Fein Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness said those responsible for the attack will not derail political progress and are "living in cloud cuckoo land."
副FMであるSFのマーティン・マクギネスは、攻撃を行なった者たちはこの先も政治的プロセスを脱線させることはないと述べた。またそのような者たちは「脳内お花畑」なのだと述べた。

"We must remain calm when facing what is undoubtedly a dangerous threat to police officers at this time," he added.
「警官にとって危険な脅威であることに間違いはありません。それに対処するにあたっては冷静さを保つことが必要です」と彼は述べた。

UPDATE＠夜中12時ごろ：
TwitterでのBelfastの検索結果から。「爆弾、車、ベルファストという3語が入ってるニュースの見出しを、今また見ているけれど、いやな気分だ」と投稿しているこの人は、北アイルランド出身でイングランド在住だという。
