先週、Somersetのグラストンベリー・フェス会場付近のBanskyの「作品」が塗りつぶされているのが発見されたそうだが、ご本人はこの冬、ベツレヘムに進出している。

The elusive street artist has painted six provocative new images -- including a dove of peace strapped with a bulletproof vest and a young girl with pigtails frisking an Israeli soldier -- on buildings around the West Bank town.
Banksy ... has also converted a fast food shop opposite Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity into an art gallery showing work by artists from the Palestinian territories and abroad.
つまり、ベツレヘムの街角でいつもの調子のお絵かきをしたほか、聖誕教会の向かいにあるファストフードの店を、パレスチナや世界各地のアーティストのギャラリーとした。クリスマスの時期の観光振興プロジェクトの一貫らしい。ガーディアンによると、昨年ロンドンのオクスフォード・ストリートでやったSanta's Ghettoを、今年はベツレヘムで行なっているとのこと。
